the welsh new wave
Do you ever feel as if you have your own story to tell? Looking for a way to get it off the ground?
Here you will find information about The Welsh New Wave short film competition and talent development programme, and how to apply.
The Welsh New Wave is a Welsh-language short film competition and talent development programme aimed at discovering and nurturing emerging filmmakers across Wales.
Open for applications from midday on 1 October 2024 to 11:59pm on 18 November 2024, this initiative provides a platform for new voices in Welsh cinema. During the application window, The Welsh New Wave will hold a series of bilingual workshops, both in-person and online, covering essential skills such as storytelling, pitching, and communication. Once the three finalists have been announced in December, they will receive talent development support before the winner is selected in spring 2025 to have their film produced and distributed by Amdani.
By participating in The Welsh New Wave, aspiring filmmakers will not only develop their skills but also contribute to the promotion of Welsh culture and language on a global stage. This initiative aligns with Amdani's mission to elevate Welsh cinema and support a greener film industry. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply and become part of a vibrant creative community dedicated to innovative and sustainable filmmaking.
